PRODIGY FROM MOBB DEEP DIES AT AGE 42

Mobb Deep’s Prodigy one half of the infamous hip-hop group has died on 20.6.17 at the age of 42.

As a long term fan, since childhood it’s extremely sad to hear that the rapper Prodigy from mobb deep dies at age 42.

The rapper was found unconscious in Las Vegas. It was unclear the exact cause of death. However the group’s publicist delivered the following statement to XXL music website;

It is with extreme sadness and disbelief that we confirm the death of our dear friend Albert Johnson, better known to millions of fans as Prodigy of legendary NY rap duo Mobb Deep. Prodigy was hospitalized a few days ago in Vegas after a Mobb Deep performance for complications caused by a sickle cell anemia crisis. As most of his fans know, Prodigy battled the disease since birth. The exact causes of death have yet to be determined. We would like to thank everyone for respecting the family’s privacy at this time.

As a duo Mobb Deep consisted of Prodigy and Havoc. The group sold over 3 million records, through the 90’s Mobb Deep’s critically acclaimed successes came with The Infamous and Hell On Earth.

Prodigy published an autobiography in 2011 called My Infamous Life: The Autobiography of Mobb Deep’s Prodigy. He also collaborated last year with Kathy Iandoli on a cookbook, Commissary Kitchen, a collection of recipes he conceived of while serving a three-year sentence for gun possession charges.
